About Calibra

Facebook seeks a proactive and innovative business and technology lawyer to serve as Associate General Counsel, Blockchain to support its new Calibra custodial wallet business for the Libra cryptocurrency. You will work directly with Calibra’s Head of Legal on all aspects of advising the Calibra leadership team, including addressing corporate, securities and governance issues arising from Calibra’s business and the international roll-out of its services. You will coordinate across Compliance, Finance, Operations, and the Facebook Legal Department to build robust processes and controls for the new Calibra organization. This is a full-time position.


  • Advise on all legal aspects of operating Calibra’s international custodial wallet business
  • Advise on corporate structure, governance and proper operation of international subsidiaries
  • Advise on existing and new regulatory requirements potentially applicable to cryptocurrency custodial wallet applications, including securities and payments regulation
  • Provide legal input into Calibra’s business planning and business development processes, including advice on Calibra’s relationships with key business partners and strategic alliances
  • Work with the Compliance, Finance, and Operations teams to build and maintain robust processes and controls for Calibra
  • Open to domestic and international travel as and when required

Minimum Qualifications

  • J.D. degree (or foreign equivalent) and membership in at least one US state bar
  • 8+ years of legal experience, including experience working at or for technology companies (either in-house or at a global law firm)
  • Knowledge of blockchain technology and the legal issues arising from blockchain applications
  • Experienced at building relationships and collaborating with business teams and cross-functional teams (such as Finance, Compliance and Operations) to ensure business needs are met with internal controls

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in advising payment services preferred
  • International experience
